UCG’s Field Manager on the ground in Tuvalu
UCG has commenced our Survey & Design project for fibre to the home ‘FTTH’ in Tuvalu with our assigned Construction Manager James Wakelam in Tuvulu linking up with the Tuvalu Telecom Corporation “TTC” team as well as World Bank representatives. Tuvalu is an island in the South Pacific about 1,000kms north of Fiji. Its 9 islands comprise small, thinly populated atolls and reef islands with palm-fringed beaches and WWII sites.
In a busy 2 weeks in Tuvalu, James & the TTC team have been getting increasingly familiar with current telecommunications infrastructure to be utilised as part of the optic fibre rollout & have surveyed all duct routes, geo tagged all pits, measured up the exchange and identified all end user premises and their lead ins. All information synced daily to UCG’s Network Architect & Technical Solutions Specialists who create the high-level designs & architectural plans.
The infield team have already completing the first pit to pit haul of the duct assembly. UCG’s assigned Programme Manager Sean Connor is working very closely with our valued Tuvalu & World Bank representatives to ensure robust governance measures are in place.
