Universal Communications Group NZ Ltd (herein referred to as “UCG”) is responsible for providing telecommunications services to its clients and its client’s customers. Personal information disclosed to UCG deserves to be treated with the highest level of privacy, confidentiality and be kept secure.
UCG is committed to the Information Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act 2020 (the Privacy Act). UCG shall take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we obtain about any person is not disclosed or accessed by unauthorised persons.
UCG’s Privacy Statement is made available to any person who requests a copy and is available on UCG’s public website www.ucg.co.nz.
Personal information held by UCG may include but is not limited to your name, date of birth, your address, phone number, your email address, and in the case of employment applicants or workers of our Delivery Partner firms information relating to your previous work history, qualifications and Ministry of Justice records.
Customer information, such as owners and tenant’s information, is collected to enable us to install telecommunication infrastructure. Worker’s information is collected to process your eligibility to work with us. In the case of providing telecommunication services to a property which you occupy, your personal information is generally provided to us from the telecommunications service provider who you ordered your new telecommunications service through.
If you are the owner of a property that we have been requested to provide telecommunications infrastructure to, we may approach you directly to confirm your ownership of the property after using public sources of information to identify you.
In the case of employment applications, we collect the information you supply us when you apply to an advertised opportunity or when you otherwise directly supply your information to us.
In the case of Delivery Partner workers, we only store and use the personal information which workers directly supply us, or which is supplied by their employer. Delivery Partners during working hours when updating their work progress in our siteTRAX Air software product have their geographical location recorded (GPS data).
Your personal information will be used by UCG only for the purposes for which it is collected. Customer’s personal information will only be used by us so we can communicate with you about the installation of telecommunications infrastructure at a property you are associated with. When the work shall proceed your personal information is disclosed to the subcontracting company who shall do the installation work, where their access to your information is through our information system. If you applied for employment, we will consider you for the vacancy you applied for as well as future employment opportunities with us unless you tell us not to.
If you work for a Delivery Partner that subcontracts to UCG, we use your personal information to monitor your eligibility to work for us or to get in contact with you. We use the GPS data related to your work location for the purpose of monitoring and managing the status of work-related tasks where the primary goal is the timely delivery of services.
We take the privacy and security of all our stakeholder’s personal information including GPS data of our Delivery Partners seriously. All information collected is handled in accordance with our strict data protection policies and is only accessible to authorized personnel. We implement robust security measures to safeguard this information from unauthorized access or misuse.
Personal information including location data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the intended purposes and to comply with applicable legal requirements. Once it is no longer needed, the data is securely deleted.
If you are the registered occupant of the property that we are authorised to install the telecommunication infrastructure to your personal information will be disclosed to the Delivery Partner subcontracting company that is assigned to do the work. These companies and their workers may only use your personal information for the purposes of completing the installation and for no other reason.
If you work for a Delivery Partner who subcontracts to UCG, your personal information held by us at their request may be disclosed to representatives of our client who have an operational reason to know.
The personal information of our customers or Delivery Partner workers will not be discharged to other parties without the individual’s prior consent unless where permissible under the Privacy Act 2020. Examples include if there is a serious threat to your health or safety or where UCG must disclose your personal information by law.
UCG takes considerable care to ensure your personal information is accurate. It is recommended that you provide us with accurate information and notify us of any changes or recognised inaccuracies.
If you would like to access the personal information that we may hold about you, please provide a written request to the company through any employee of the company or through the Privacy Officer. UCG will undertake necessary checks to validate your identity, or that of your authorised representative, before supplying the information to you or your authorised representative.
If you elect to not provide UCG your personal information that is relevant to our dealings with you this may prevent us from providing telecommunication infrastructure to the property you are associated with, or in the case of an employment applicant, we may not be able to consider you for employment. If you are the worker of a Delivery Partner, the lack of provision of the requested information we ask of you may prevent you from working on UCG controlled job sites.
